Youth Services

How to Start?

1. If you are a child over the age of 12, call the office closest to you and ask for the Quick Response worker. Your parents, doctor, school personnel and community agencies can refer you also. If you do want counselling without your parents knowledge, you have a right to do that.

2. If you are over the age of 16, your parents or a doctor can refer you, but they must obtain your consent.

3. There is no cost. Open Doors is fully funded by the Ministry of Community, Family and Children's Services.

What if Your Situation is Urgent? Our telephones are answered 24 hours a day. If your situation is urgent, and you call after hours, one of our managers on call will work with you to stabilise the situation. Our Quick Response Counsellors are able to provide a next day service if needed.
